GRADING SYSTEM: SAME QUALITY - IT'S ABOUT SELECTION
Both grades are of the same quality. The only difference is their appearance, which is determined by hand selection. We dive into more detail below.
What does this mean: When you order standard grade, we don't pick out specific slab(s) for you. You get them as they are taken from the crate. This means you should expect to see differences between the slabs, such as:
Colour variations: Some slabs might have two to three different shades of colour and tone
Texture differences: Some might be smoother, while others have a rougher texture with natural ridges.
Aesthetic differences: Every single slab will look different; very rarely will they match
Price: These slabs are 25-35% cheaper on average compared to the hand-picked premium-grade slabs
In summary
Your order will be picked without any special selection.
The slabs will be shipped just as they come out of the crate.
You will receive a mix of plain, solid-colored slabs and slabs that may or may not be patterned
The surface of the stone can be either mostly flat with very subtle texture, to slabs that have a more pronounced texture
The backs of the slabs will all be machined to a consistent thicknes
What does this mean: When you order premium grade, we manually select the slabs from our crates that have an aesthetically uniform appearance. This means you should expect to see :
👉Colour variations: Minimal shade and colour variations
👉Texture differences: Consistently smooth texture with minimal surface ridges
👉Aesthetic differences: Slabs will have an overall uniform appearance; colour, shading and texture will be consistent
👉Price: These slabs are 25-35% more expensive on average than the standard grade, where there is no hand-picked selection

When selecting natural riven slate, you have two selection options: Standard and Premium. The photos provided serve as a guide, helping you see the visual differences between these two grades.
It's important to note that honed and brushed slate are only available in the Standard grade. This is because the processing for these finishes starts with a different selection of slabs, so there is no separate premium option for them.
